Her columns used to talk about her favorite topic: herself and other things she’s interested in. Anger and angst would be part and parcel of what made her writing popular and to some extent, part of the era’s experience for many who have followed her writing. Zafra admits that she’s built a reputation for herself, particularly through the way her anger telegraphs into her columns. And this is also something that she admits is her own doing. It’s something that, over the course of our 50-minute conversation, I would hear constantly something that reminded me that the Jessica we read on paper isn’t the Jessica in real life, although we have reasons to believe so. Which would be weird because laughter isn’t what people would usually associate with Zafra.
